CARPENTRY

Like a kid in a candy store, I was clambering over tree roots - just imagining the potential…whilst the farmer looked on bemusedly.

Once part of Kin Kin’s fields, these abandoned timbers now anchor The Woodshed.

Scott, the endlessly patient carpenter, brought my vision for a root table to life—a nod to Kin Kin’s timber and logging history.

From the abandoned root ball in the farmers’ fields to the final piece, Scott sandblasted the root and shaped rough asymmetrical timbers into an a beautifully smooth top, joined with a delicate butterfly tie—a gesture inspired by George Nakashima and the beauty of imperfection.
